Mountain guide

Where to eat on the mountain.

From fine dining to the best pizza on the mountain, these are the spots worth knowing.

Sit-down dinners

Fine dining

Appalachia Kitchen

White brick arches and dark tables in the dining room at Appalachia Kitchen

Fine dining, a scratch kitchen with a farm-to-table menu at the Corduroy Inn. It is open for the winter and summer seasons and closed in the shoulder seasons. Best to make reservations before your trip for weekends and holidays. Everything is great here.

Appalachia Kitchen provides a complimentary shuttle pick up and return to your on-mountain lodging some evenings, so call to arrange.

Foxfire Grille

Inside Foxfire. The sign out front reads Views, Blues & Barbecue.

The best comfort food on the mountain, and it is in the Village.

Steakhouse

10 Prime

Expensive fine dining. Amazing steak and great sides. In the Soaring Eagle building with free parking for Ikon passholders.

Casual and family

Pizza

The Pizza Slice

The best pizza, period: wood-fired, at the Corduroy Inn, across from the top of the Western Express lift. Limited seating, so it is mostly where you grab good food to take back to your lodging.

Kids and groups

Cheat Mountain Pizza

The best place for a big group of hungry kids. It sits in the heart of the Village, next to Allegheny Springs, with room to sit inside and out. If it has snowed recently, there will be a huge mountain of plowed snow outside. Plan time for climbing and snowballs.

On the slopes

Upper Flume

Flume Shack

A hidden gem right on Upper Flume, and a good stop for a hot chocolate or coffee (boozy or otherwise), plus easy snacks, soups, chili, and brats. The easiest heated bathroom to get to on the slopes, but for customers only.

Ballhooter

The Boathouse

A great stop at the bottom of Ballhooter, steps from the base of that lift, for a beer and something grilled between runs.

Silver Creek

The Locker Room

At Silver Creek, this is the sports bar. Nobody is here to brag about the menu, but the flatbreads are better than you’d guess. Go for wings and the game.

Beer and après

Bar

Tuque's

A great bar, with food from the Appalachia Kitchen menu and live music. It sits above Appalachia Kitchen at the Corduroy Inn, a short walk north of the main Village. Try the poutine.

Brewery

Old Spruce Brewery

Fantastic food, local beer, and occasional karaoke, at 85 Rescue Road near Silver Creek.

Bottom of the mountain

Jake’s Local

At the bottom of the mountain, great eats, live music, and the game on. There is a breakfast buffet too, a nice addition at Snowshoe.

Bottom of the mountain

The Dog House

At the bottom of the mountain, great specialty hot dogs and loaded sides. Great to grab and go.

In-home dining

At your house

Snowshoe Fondue

A very special experience while you are here: full-service, high-end catered fondue right at your house, run by Elizabeth, a local Snowshoe resident. The meal includes a mix of melted cheeses, local bread, cornichons, pearl onions, apples, potatoes, and a finishing touch of fresh-cracked pepper.

Mim’s Kitchen

Worth the drive off the mountain. Amazing home cooking, served cafeteria style. It is seasonal, so make sure it is open before you make the drive.

If the first night should be in, grocery delivery can stock the kitchen before you arrive. Ordering details come with the booking confirmation.
