Booking, the homes, and life on the mountain. Anything else, just ask.

Booking and savings

Why book direct instead of Airbnb or VRBO?

Booking direct saves up to 20% vs Airbnb and VRBO for the same homes and the same dates. Checkout is secure through OwnerRez, and questions go straight to the owners, Mike and Monica, and their local team. Your messages won’t be filtered through third-parties that limit what we can say or suggest and we’re better able to provide personal service, firsthand local recommendations, and clear communication. Better rates, better communication, better stays.

How does the savings comparison work?

Booking direct saves up to 20% compared with Airbnb and VRBO for the same home. Guests see the live price for their dates in the booking form on each home page.

What payments are accepted?

All major credit cards, including Visa, Mastercard, Discover, and American Express.

What is the payment schedule?

A 40% deposit is required at booking to secure your reservation. The remaining 60% balance is due no later than 61 days before your scheduled arrival date. For reservations made 61 days or fewer before arrival, the full rental amount is due at booking.

Each home also requires a refundable damage deposit, with the amount listed on the individual home’s page.

  • Credit Cards: A temporary pre-authorization hold (not a charge) is placed on your card 2 days before arrival and released within 7 days after departure, provided there is no damage.
  • Debit Cards: Because debit cards do not support this type of temporary hold, the damage deposit must be charged to your account and refunded after departure, provided there is no damage. This can result in a longer transaction, especially around weekends and bank holidays, so we suggest guests use credit cards for payment whenever possible.
Cancellation Policy & Travel Insurance

We understand plans can change. Reservations more than 60 days away can sometimes be rescheduled. If the stay is canceled, guests will receive a full refund, less a $250 cancellation fee (plus tax) as long as the check-in date is at least 60 days away. Cancellations within 60 days of arrival are nonrefundable.

Travel insurance is offered during checkout and we strongly recommend purchasing Cancel For Any Reason (CFAR) travel insurance to help protect your vacation investment. Some credit cards also provide travel protection benefits, so we encourage you to check with your card issuer. Standard travel insurance and credit card benefits may not cover every reason for cancellation, while CFAR policies generally offer broader flexibility, subject to their terms. Over the years, we’ve had guests experience just about every emergency you can imagine and have seen the benefit of insurance policies in action many times.

A Special Note About Mountain Weather: Snowshoe is a beautiful mountain destination, and we root for lots of snow. Winter weather, however, can bring ice and challenging road conditions. Roads are serviced regularly and most people travel in front wheel drive vehicles. That said, guests are responsible for monitoring conditions and planning their travel accordingly. Refunds are not provided for inclement weather or travel conditions. Our goal is for every guest to enjoy a wonderful mountain getaway, and a little preparation goes a long way!

Can we book two homes together?

Yes. There are still ten homes, but two pairs can be booked together: Black Bear 32 and 33 (side by side, 14 bedrooms, sleeps 36) and Mountain Lodge 144 and 146 (connecting door, 5 bedrooms, sleeps 14). Loggers Run 4, 12, and 16 are close neighbors too, so ask about booking more than one.

Is there a minimum age to book?

Yes. Our homes are not a good fit for high school or college groups looking to host parties.

  • Black Bear and Loggers Run homes: the primary guest must be at least 27 and the majority of other adults must be at least 25.
  • Seneca and Mountain Lodge homes: the primary guest must be at least 25.

If you have questions about whether your group is a good fit, just reach out.

The homes

Which Homes Are Ski-In/Ski-Out?

All 10 of our VisitSnowshoe homes are ski-in/ski-out! Our homes were carefully chosen to ensure every home offers incredibly convenient access to skiing and snowboarding.

  • Black Bear Crossing 32 & 33: Located right beside the Powderidge lift, with slope access outside the back door. Perfect for larger families and groups who want to spend more time skiing and less time getting to the slopes!
  • Loggers Run 4, 12 & 16: Situated directly on Flume, Snowshoe’s longest green beginner run. An especially convenient location for families with people new to skiing.
  • Mountain Lodge 114, 140, 144 & 146: All four are on the first floor, in the heart of the Village, just steps from the main resort ski lift (Ballhooter). Units 114 and 140 offer slope access right from their living room sliding glass doors, while 144 and 146 are just a few steps from the building’s exit to Ballhooter.
  • Seneca 113: Step outside your private entrance directly into Snowshoe Village, with the snow just a few steps away. Even better, Expedition Station is directly across the pathway, where ski school, private lessons, and equipment rentals typically meet.

No driving to the slopes, no searching for parking, and no hauling gear on a shuttle every time you want to ski. Just easy access to the mountain, more time enjoying the snow, and the freedom to return to your home whenever you need a break!

Check-In & Check-Out Times

As a thank-you for booking directly with us, we’re happy to offer complimentary early check-in if your home is ready ahead of schedule. This depends on when previous guests depart and how much time our team needs to clean. While we can’t promise early access, we’ll gladly welcome you sooner when we can!

Check-In times:

  • 4:00 PM: Seneca 113
  • 5:00 PM: All other homes

Check-out times:

  • 11:00 AM: Mountain Lodge homes (114, 140, 144, and 146)
  • 10:00 AM: All other homes

We look forward to welcoming you to Snowshoe!

Are there quiet hours?

Only at Mountain Lodge, where quiet hours are 10 PM to 8 AM. The building is shared with other owners and guests.

Do Your Homes Have Air Conditioning?

Yes! All of our homes offer air conditioning, although the systems vary by property.

  • Black Bear Crossing, Loggers Run, and Seneca 113: All feature central air conditioning throughout the home.
  • Mountain Lodge Condos (114, 140, 144, and 146): Each has a portable A/C unit in the main living room, and all units have ceiling fans and portable fans.

One of the best things about summer at Snowshoe is the refreshingly cool mountain weather! Daytime temperatures are often in the 60s and 70s, with evenings frequently dipping into the 50s, perfect for sleeping with the windows open.

Our Mountain Lodge condos are all located on the first floor, which helps them stay naturally cooler than upper-level units. Between the mountain breezes, fans, and living room A/C, staying comfortable is rarely an issue, even during the summer months!

What is provided?

Linens and towels at every home, plus a starter supply of paper goods. For longer stays, plan to bring extras.

Is Parking Included?

Yes! Complimentary parking is included with every home. Parking arrangements vary by property, but we’ve made it easy to know what to expect:

  • Seneca: One space in the heated underground parking garage.
  • Loggers Run: Two parking spaces directly in front of each home, with additional community parking available for extra vehicles.
  • Black Bear Crossing: Room for approximately four vehicles in front of each home, plus additional community parking for overflow vehicles.
  • Mountain Lodge: Guests have access to a private parking lot. Units 114 and 146 receive two parking passes, while units 140 and 144 receive one pass, and Mountain Lodge 144 and 146 booked together come with three parking passes. Spaces are available on a first-come, first-served basis, but parking availability is rarely an issue.

Bringing extra vehicles? Additional resort parking is available at Top of the World, where you can hop on Snowshoe’s complimentary shuttle for a convenient ride back to your lodging.

We want your arrival to be as easy and stress-free as possible, so you can park, unpack, and start enjoying the mountain!

Are pets allowed?

Unfortunately, none of the homes allow pets.

Are smoking and parties allowed?

No. All homes are non-smoking, and parties and events are not allowed.

On the mountain

Do we need a car once we get there?

Usually not. The Village condos are in the Village, and the Loggers Run and Black Bear homes are a flat 5 to 10 minute walk away. In winter, guests enjoy using the free resort shuttle and many never use their car once they arrive and park.

Who helps if something comes up during our stay?

VisitSnowshoe has a local team on the mountain to help guests with their needs. Before and after your stay, Monica is a quick email away.

What Is the VisitSnowshoe Supply Depot?

Your vacation time is precious, and the last thing we want is for a broken coffee maker to interrupt your stay! That’s why we’ve created our own VisitSnowshoe Supply Depot, stocked with backup essentials to help us solve unexpected problems quickly and keep your vacation running smoothly.

Most of our homes are newly renovated, with updated appliances, furnishings, and décor. But with hundreds of guests enjoying our properties each year, even the best-maintained homes can occasionally have something stop working. And because Snowshoe is a remote mountain destination, getting replacements quickly isn’t always possible.

Rather than leaving our guests waiting for help, we’ve invested in a well-stocked supply depot at the base of the mountain. From spare coffee makers, TV remotes, linens, to even an appliance or two, we keep many replacement items close at hand so we can respond quickly when something unexpected happens.

It’s an investment most vacation rental owners don’t make, but one we believe is worth it. Our goal is simple: fewer interruptions, faster solutions, and more time for you to enjoy your vacation.
