Book direct

Same homes. Save up to 20%.

Booking here saves up to 20% vs Airbnb and VRBO for the same homes and the same dates. Here is how that works.

Where the difference comes from

Airbnb and VRBO add their own service fees on top of the nightly rate. Booking direct skips those platform fees. The home, the dates, and the people looking after you are the same.

What stays the same

  • The same ten homes, with the same photos and amenities
  • The same house rules and cancellation policy: full refund, less a $250 taxable cancellation fee, if you cancel at least 60 days before arrival. No refunds within 60 days of arrival.
  • The same local team on the mountain during your stay

What gets better

  • Questions go straight to the owners, not a platform inbox
  • The guest list gets special discount offers, hears first when we open new seasons for reservations, and receives last minute promotions to fill open weekends, holidays, and vacancies
  • Secure checkout and payment through OwnerRez

Questions

Booking direct, explained.

Why book direct instead of Airbnb or VRBO?

Booking direct saves up to 20% vs Airbnb and VRBO for the same homes and the same dates. Checkout is secure through OwnerRez, and questions go straight to the owners, Mike and Monica, and their local team. Your messages won’t be filtered through third-parties that limit what we can say or suggest and we’re better able to provide personal service, firsthand local recommendations, and clear communication. Better rates, better communication, better stays.

Are the homes and policies the same as on Airbnb and VRBO?

Yes. Same homes, same owners, same local team. The difference is the platform fees.

What payments are accepted?

All major credit cards, including Visa, Mastercard, Discover, and American Express.

What is the payment schedule?

A 40% deposit is required at booking to secure your reservation. The remaining 60% balance is due no later than 61 days before your scheduled arrival date. For reservations made 61 days or fewer before arrival, the full rental amount is due at booking.

Each home also requires a refundable damage deposit, with the amount listed on the individual home’s page.

  • Credit Cards: A temporary pre-authorization hold (not a charge) is placed on your card 2 days before arrival and released within 7 days after departure, provided there is no damage.
  • Debit Cards: Because debit cards do not support this type of temporary hold, the damage deposit must be charged to your account and refunded after departure, provided there is no damage. This can result in a longer transaction, especially around weekends and bank holidays, so we suggest guests use credit cards for payment whenever possible.
Cancellation Policy & Travel Insurance

We understand plans can change. Reservations more than 60 days away can sometimes be rescheduled. If the stay is canceled, guests will receive a full refund, less a $250 cancellation fee (plus tax) as long as the check-in date is at least 60 days away. Cancellations within 60 days of arrival are nonrefundable.

Travel insurance is offered during checkout and we strongly recommend purchasing Cancel For Any Reason (CFAR) travel insurance to help protect your vacation investment. Some credit cards also provide travel protection benefits, so we encourage you to check with your card issuer. Standard travel insurance and credit card benefits may not cover every reason for cancellation, while CFAR policies generally offer broader flexibility, subject to their terms. Over the years, we’ve had guests experience just about every emergency you can imagine and have seen the benefit of insurance policies in action many times.

A Special Note About Mountain Weather: Snowshoe is a beautiful mountain destination, and we root for lots of snow. Winter weather, however, can bring ice and challenging road conditions. Roads are serviced regularly and most people travel in front wheel drive vehicles. That said, guests are responsible for monitoring conditions and planning their travel accordingly. Refunds are not provided for inclement weather or travel conditions. Our goal is for every guest to enjoy a wonderful mountain getaway, and a little preparation goes a long way!
